A big THANK YOU to the AMEPP team. I got in! After struggling with the samples for section 3 provided by ACER I was pretty worried about sitting the Undergraduate Medicine and Health Sciences Admission Test (UMAT). I put my name down on the AMEPP website and was contacted soon after. I was very impressed with the commitment showed by AMEPP to help people follow their dream and get into Med School. I was given useful hints and tips before I even signed up for the course. The manuals provided were invaluable especially for the dreaded section three. While working through the hundreds of samples I found it progressively easier to find the shapes. In the actual test I had completed all but three type II questions with almost 10 minutes to go. Part of the course included a mock test with the same time pressures as the real one. This too was invaluable for a first timer like me. It gave me an indication of what to expect, of how important it is to manage my time during the test, and practice at accurately transferring my answers onto the answer sheet. It doesn't end there. After the course AMEPP provided a useful guide to interviews and took an interest in how I was progressing through the application process. I felt the whole time that AMEPP's focus was on preparing me for getting into a Med School. Having said all that, the benefits of the Course can only be realised if you work through the manuals, get into the right mind set, reflect on why you got things wrong and figure out (with AMEPP's help) how to stop making those mistakes. I ended up getting in to the 97 nth percentile for Section I of the UMAT. In summary, I felt that I did far better in the test than I would have without doing the Course.
