Course & Resources The Undergraduate Medicine and Health Sciences Admission Test (UMAT) is different from any other test you have encountered in your academic career. It is unlike the knowledge-based exams from secondary school that focus on memorising and regurgitating information. The test is comprised of a series of three sections consisting of questions, designed to test logical reasoning, decision-making, critical thinking and problem-solving. Developed by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER), the test is designed to assess a range of non-academic personal qualities, which are considered important for the study, and practice of medicine, dentistry and other health professions. The test questions have been developed to rigorous professional and technical standards and are revised annually. Before you can master strategies, it is important to know exactly what you are dealing with. Let's start with the basics. UMAT is, among other things, a limited-time aptitude test. It is not a personality or IQ test. It consists of multiple-choice questions that vary in difficulty. The test can be a gruelling experience, so if you don't approach it with confidence and stamina, you may lose your composure. That's why it's important that you take control. The power to confront such an obstacle comes from preparation and mindset. AMEPP offers a Professional Preparation Course and Resources designed to help candidates prepare for an atypical test by providing the candidate with the necessary tools and strategies. The course is invaluable to test candidates, especially considering the highly competitive nature of recent tertiary entrance requirements.
