Indigenous Student Support Scholarship - Undergraduate Entry

AMEPP is committed to encouraging and enabling indigenous students to participate in the Undergraduate Entry Programs in medicine, dentistry and health sciences at Universities throughout Australia and New Zealand.

Up to a total of ten AMEPP support scholarships annually will be available to Australian Indigenous (Aboriginal or Torres Straight Islander) and New Zealand (Maori or Pacific Islander) students covering the Full Course tuition fee for the AMEPP Professional UMAT2008 Preparation Course and Resources. These scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic merit and financial need.

To be eligible to apply for the AMEPP Indigenous support scholarship, you must:

•  be of Australian Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander or New Zealand Maori or Pacific islander descent, and identify as an Australian Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander or New Zealand Maori or Pacific islander, and be accepted as an Australian Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander or New Zealand Maori or Pacific Islander by and within the community in which you live or have lived and

•  are completing the final year of secondary school (Year 12 in Australia or Year 13 in New Zealand) or have partially or fully completed a bachelors degree from an Australian or New Zealand University, or from another tertiary institution of equivalent standard; or be in one of the Australian or New Zealand entry categories as prescribed by the latest ACER UMAT2008 Information booklet.

•  intend to apply for admission to undergraduate-entry medicine or dentistry or health sciences at the University of Adelaide, Bond university, Griffith University, Monash University, University of Melbourne, University of Newcastle, University of New South Wales, University of Sydney, University of Queensland, University of Western Australia, University of Tasmania, University of Auckland (Auckland, New Zealand) and University of Otago (Dunedin, New Zealand).

Win an AMEPP® $3000 Scholarship Giveaway for University

The purpose of the AMEPP Scholarship Giveaway is to support the educational development of a high achieving student, pursuing an undergraduate bachelors degree in medicine, dentistry or health sciences. AMEPP will provide one educational scholarship to help facilitate the transition and participation of an AMEPP student into first year university. The scholarship winner will receive a one off payment of AUD$3000 in financial assistance which is designed to support the student by contributing to the cost of living, tuition and materials such as textbooks, which are essential for any study endeavour. Rules, Regulations, Guidelines and Conditions of Entry

AMEPP PTY Limited (A.B.N 99 100 198 856) is the sole promoter and sponsor of the AMEPP Scholarship Giveaway. The AMEPP Scholarship Giveaway winner will keep confidential any knowledge about AMEPP and its business as a result of the Scholarship Giveaway. AMEPP employees and relatives are NOT eligible to enter the Scholarship Giveaway.

How to Enter and Participate
Entry and participation is open ONLY to AMEPP UMAT 2008Full Preparation Course participants who have sat the official UMAT (administered by ACER) in 2008 and who have gained a place and enrolled in 2009 in an accredited Australian or New Zealand University undergraduate medical, dental or health sciences degree program for which UMAT is required. Written certified copies will be required from the student's university to confirm enrolment in a medical, dental or health science degree program. A Full Course participant refers to a student who applies and attends the FULL face-to-face 2-day AMEPP UMAT2008 Preparation Course. Cancellation of a specific 2-day Preparation Course by AMEPP followed by any agreed refund to an applicant (as per the AMEPP Refund and Cancellation Policy) automatically excludes that applicant from entering the $3,000 Scholarship Giveaway. Applicants who receive the Distance Learning Resources and therefore are not attending the Full Preparation Course are NOT eligible for the Scholarship Giveaway .

Judgement and Selection
Selection of the Scholarship Giveaway winner is based on performance in UMAT. That is the highest* average percentile score in all sections of the official UMAT in 2008 as given in the applicant's ACER UMAT2008 Statement of Results Transcript. AMEPP DOES NOT have access to any ACER UMAT Scores and all eligible AMEPP full Course participants who wish to take part in the Scholarship Giveaway will be required to contact AMEPP to give their score. AMEPP will contact the successful applicant for evidence in the form of the original ACER UMAT2008 Statement of Results Transcript. This MUST be sent to AMEPP by post before the closing date of Thursday 5th February 2009. If required documentation is not received before the closing date, the Scholarship Giveaway prize is forfeited and another winner will be selected. All information gathered is strictly confidential and will not be passed onto any 3 rd party. All original Statement of Result Transcripts will be returned to applicants by certified mail. The Scholarship Giveaway winner will be judged from among all collected and eligible entries. AMEPP's decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. * If AMEPP receives more than one eligible applicant with the same highest average official UMAT percentile score the Scholarship Giveaway prize will be evenly distributed between those applicants. For the AMEPP Scholarship Giveaway to be offered, AMEPP in 2008 must receive more than 20 eligible applicants before the closing date of Thursday 5th February 2009.

Scholarship Giveaway Prize
The Scholarship Giveaway is in the form of a one off payment in Australian dollars (AUD$3,000). To be part of the $3,000 Scholarship Giveaway, AMEPP must have a fully completed and signed AMEPP UMAT Preparation Courses & Resources Application Form from the applicant prior to the selection of the final winner. Proof of making phone call, sending post/e-mail is not proof of our receipt of your application form. No responsibility can be accepted for entries that are lost, delayed or damaged. The AMEPP Scholarship Giveaway prize money will be sent by certified post to the successful applicant on Monday 2nd March 2009 for the first year of study; however, scholarship funds may be spent at anytime during the particular course of study for which the sponsorship is granted.

Notification of the Winner
The Scholarship will be in the form of a single cheque for the sum of AUD$3,000 to the successful applicant. The winner will be formally notified by phone, mail or e-mail. The winner will be required to provide at least two picture proof certified supporting documents of their identity and address. The scholarship money will NOT be transferred in any form to any other person, and the winner is responsible for all applicable taxes. By entering the AMEPP Scholarship Giveaway, the successful applicant hereby agrees to permit AMEPP to announce and or publish his/her name and address (city only). No alternative prize will be made available on the entrant's request. The Scholarship Giveaway money must be claimed and processed by the winner within one year. AMEPP will keep your personal details for a reasonable time so that we can send you any prize that you have won, to verify that these rules have been complied with, and for accounting purposes.

Conduct and Limitations on Liability
Only one entry per AMEPP applicant is permitted. In taking part in the Scholarship Giveaway, AMEPP will not accept any responsibility for an applicant's inaccurate detail(s), omission(s) or delay(s). Use of false name(s) or address, i.e. name, by which the entrant is not usually known, will disqualify them from the AMEPP Scholarship Giveaway. Any AMEPP applicant who is deemed otherwise unsuitable will be excluded from the AMEPP Scholarship Giveaway. AMEPP reserve the right to amend these rules at any time. By entering the AMEPP Scholarship Giveaway all participants (including the winner) agree to release and hold harmless AMEPP and its affiliates each of their respective officers, directors, employees and agents from and against any claims or cause of actions arising out of or in any way connected with the entrants or the winner's participation in the Scholarship Giveaway and use of any prize awarded. AMEPP may at any time issue specific rules to be read in conjunction with these rules. AMEPP will not be liable for any damage, loss or disappointment suffered by any person taking part or not being able to take part in the Scholarship Giveaway. AMEPP is not responsible for: (1) unauthorised human intervention in any part of the entry Scholarship Giveaway, and (2) technical, electronic or human error which may arise in the administration of the Scholarship Giveaway. If, for any reason the Scholarship Giveaway is not capable of running as planned, AMEPP, reserves the right at their sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify, and/or suspend the Scholarship.

ENTRY IN THE AMEPP SCHOLARSHIP GIVEAWAY AUTOMATICALLY IMPLIES ACCEPTANCE OF THE ABOVE RULES, REGULATIONS, GUIDELINES AND CONDITIONS OF ENTRY. THE SUCCESSUFUL WINNER OF THE AMEPP SCHOLARSHIP GIVEAWAY WILL BE DISQUALIFIED IF AMEPP DETERMINES THAT HE/SHE HAS NOT FOLLOWED THE ABOVE RULES, REGULATIONS, GUIDELINES AND CONDITIONS OF ENTRY .
